Report on Job Performance Standards

JOBS PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Job analysis has a third application job performance standard. These standards serve two functions. First they become targets for employee efforts. The challenge of or pride in meeting objectives may motivate employees.  Once standards are met, works may feel a send of accomplishment and achievement.  The outcome contributes to employees satisfaction. Without standards, employee performance may suffer.

Second, standards are criteria against which job success is measured.  They are indispensable to managers and HR specialists who attempt to control work performance.  Without standards, no control system can evaluate job performance.  All control system have four features, standards, measures, correction, and feedback.  The relationship between these factors is illustrated in previous post. Job performance standards are developed from job analysis information, then actual employee performance is measured.
